To solve such the problem that in a conventional rice cooker for cooking rice using an infrared sensor, when it is used for a long period of time, scratch and peeling are caused in a pot or an inner lid, and thus, deviation is caused in detected temperature by an infrared sensor, and cooking performance is lowered.
A highly reliable rice cooker includes: a pot 2 housed in a cylindrical rice cooker body 1 with a bottom; a pot heating device 5 for heating the pot 2; a lid 3 for opening and closing the opening of the rice cooker body 1; and an infrared sensor 6 for detecting the temperature of the pot 2 by an infrared ray radiated from the pot 2. At least a portion of the pot 1 where the infrared ray is radiated to the infrared sensor 2 is composed of a material having an irradiation rate nearly the same from the outer surface to the depth of 0.1 mm. As a result, the amount of the infrared ray radiated by the pot or the inner lid is hardly changed even when shallow scratches are produced, and thus the detected temperature of the infrared sensor 6 is accurately kept, and rice cooking performance can be maintained even when scratches are caused in the pot or the inner lid.
