Title:
RIGID DECOUPLING ASSEMBLY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0681514
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To protect buildings and other structures which may undergo an earthquake, to thereby prevent the structures from being destroyed or collapsed.

CONSTITUTION: A preferable rigid decoupling 22 has a plurality of long and relatively flexible pipes 28 which are filled with concrete. Each pipe 28 extends downward toward a foundation 26 while being rigidly coupled to a structure 20. At least some of the pipes 28 are coupled to the foundation 26 so that the structure 20 is not overturned. A main load support 46 is mounted on the foundation 26 to receive the pipe row 28, and a support device 32 is inserted between an upper portion of the support 46 and the structure 20, to thereby enable lateral movement therebetween. By absorbing lateral rigidity from a load support force of the support 46, an accelerating force of the ground is prevented from being transferred to the structure to be protected.
