Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring case that can determine states of piston rings fitted into ring grooves before a piston is inserted into a cylinder bore.SOLUTION: A ring case 1, which is used in combination with a taper ring 2 which assists fitting of piston rings 4-6 into ring grooves 3a-3c of a piston 3 and holds the piston rings 4-6 fitted into the ring groove 3a-3c, comprises an annular main body part 11 which has an inner peripheral surface 11a and an outer peripheral surface 11b and whose inner diameter R1 is substantially identical to inner diameters R3 and R4 of the taper ring 2 and a nominal diameter Rp of the piston ring 4. The main body part 11 has a visual recognition area at which a space surrounded by the inner peripheral surface 11a is allowed to be visually recognized from the outer peripheral surface 11b side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
