To provide a hang-off device whose maintenance is easy to be executed and structure is simple.

There is provided a hang-off joint 1 which separates the lower end of a riser pipe 3 from a seabed pit mouth and suspends the riser pipe 3 from a ship body in a hang-off state. The joint 1 comprises a head flange 1a and a lower end flange 1d with a ball joint 1e. Since the hang-off joint 1 is used in exchange for a telescopic joint, the head flange 1a is engaged with the upper edge of an opening of a rotary table 11 on the ship and the rise pipe 3 to rock relatively with the ball joint 1e attached to the lower end flange 1d when the ship body is being rocked.
