PURPOSE: To miniaturize and simplify a wiper device by raising the wiper on a lower end rail outside the vehicle glass surface along the glass surface, moving a drive unit in the inside of the rail from the right end to the left end, and folding and storing the wiper at the end of movement.

CONSTITUTION: A wiper body 5 is loaded on a sliding-driving rail 4 mounted on the lower side of the vehicle front glass 7 by a toothed gear (drive unit) 6 for a wiper folding-operating device. During operation of the wiper 5, the wiper is raised on the glass surface 2 by the drive unit 6 to wipe off drops of water while the sliding-driving rail 4 is moved in the direction of the arrow 3 by a driving means consisting of chain, etc. At the end of movement, the wiper 5 is stored in the storage position on the lower side rail 4 by the drive unit 6.
