Abstract:

To allow the condensed water of moisture and/or water drops adhered to the surface of a road mirror with a heater to spread uniformly on the surface layer according to the photoexcitation of a photocatalyst so as to accelerate drying by the heater and to assure a visual field characteristic by providing the surface of this road mirror with the surface layer contg. transparent photocatalyst particles.

The oxide of the photocatalyst exhibits hydrophilicity, expels contaminants by a photoexcitation effect and is capable of forming a uniform water film by forming an adsorbed water film. Fig. shows that the oxide contains a metal element M and the extreme surface consists of an inorg. oxide. This oxide exhibits hydrophilicity in the state that the contaminants in the environment are not adsorbed. These contaminants are excelled by the photoexcitation effect of the photocatalyst titaniums oxide incorporated into the surface layer exclusive of the inorg. oxide. and the adsorbed water layer is formed, by which the uniform water film is formed. The mirror which consists of a transparent plastic base material provided with a reflection coating on its rear surface and its provided with a reflection coating on its front surface is mounted at a road mirror base material.
