To provide a road simulator which can be controlled at a high speed with high accuracy, and is compact and space saving.
The road simulator 10 includes moving bodies 18 on which a vehicle 12 is placed; actuators for vibrating the moving bodies 18 vertically; a control device 60 for controlling the actuators; and a waveform generator 50 for generating displacement target waveforms for the actuators and outputting them to the control device 60. The actuators are magnetic-levitation type linear motors and include: magnet plates 36 fitted to the moving bodies 18, and is movable vertically together with the moving bodies 18; and coils provided in panels 32 adjacent to the magnet plates 36 to thereby make the magnet plates levitate by causing currents to flow through the coils.
