To obtain very reliable road altitude and road gradient by very easily attaching to any location of a vehicle even after manufacturing.
The system comprises the air pressure measuring means (4) for measuring the air pressure, a GPS receiver means (2, 3) for receiving GPS data from the GPS, and an operation means (5) for calculating road altitude and/or road gradient based on the air pressure measured with the air pressure measuring means and the GPS data received with the GPS receiver means. Preferably, the GPS data contains altitude data, and the operation means calculates tentative altitude from the air pressure, and the tentative altitude is corrected using the altitude data to calculate the road altitude. The GPS data includes longitude data and latitude data. The operation means calculates a moving distance based on the longitude data and latitude data and calculates the road gradient based on the road altitude and the moving distance.
