Title:
ROAD SURFACE FRICTION COEFFICIENT CONDITION DETECTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3417099
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect a road surface even in a turning transitional period of small turning motion by providing a road surface friction coefficient condition detecting means to detect a road surface friction coefficient condition on the basis of the ratio of a road surface friction coefficient condition obtained from the delay time ratio of a target lateral momentum preset value to an actual lateral momentum detecting value.
CONSTITUTION: A yaw rate sensor 43 outputs an actual yaw rate 4' composed of voltage output which is in proportion to the actual yaw rate actually generated in a vehicle and becomes a positive value in rightward turning and a negative value in leftward turning to a control unit 40. A microcomputer 51 calculates and sets a target yaw rate Ψ'* to be attained by the vehicle on the basis of a steering angle detecting value θ and a car speed detecting value V according to operation processing, and obtains the time constant ratio β in a transitional period of vehicle turning motion, to put it concretely, at steering time of a steering wheel from the ratio of this target yaw rate Ψ'* to a present yaw rate Ψ', and calculates and outputs a road surface from an average value βAVE of the time constant ratio at its steering time.
