PURPOSE: To remove unevenly produced burrs for smoothening, by a method wherein, in a robot device for industrial use which performs a work of removing burrs of a casting, control is made so that a cutting tool at the tip of a robot arm is moved along a guide groove.

CONSTITUTION: A driving device 7, held to the tip of a robot arm 6, places a work W on a work table 10 for securing in a state to be moved aside to the one side end of the guide groove of a guide plate 11 placed above the work table. With the tool driving device 7 driven, the turning motion of robot arms 4 and 6 around joints 3 and 5, respectively, is controlled so that a guide roller 12 is guided by a guide plate 11 for movement as a cutting tool 9 attached to the tip of a rotary shaft 8 is rotated, and the cutting tool 9 is moved along the edge of the work W to perform a burr removing work. In this case, since the cutting tool 9 is guided by the guide groove of the guide plate 11 through the medium of the guide roller 12 pivotally supported on the rotary shaft 8, the shape of a finish surface in uniformized and smoothened.
