PURPOSE: To extend the longitudinal operating range of a robot by installing a horizontal swivel device which turns a carriage in the horizontal direction with a pivot at a position dislocated from a rotation axis of the robot itself as the center.
CONSTITUTION: Since a robot A on a carriage 1 is moved crosswise by a transverse transferrer 2, an operating range Z of this robot A is extended in the transverse direction as shown in a diagonal part X. Likewise, as the robot A on the carriage 1 is turned by a horizontal swivel device 3 in the horizontal direction centering on a pivot O at a position dislocated from a rotation axis P of the robot A itself, the operating range Z of the robot A is thus enlarged in both longitudinal and transverse directions as in a diagonal part V.
