Abstract:
To provide rock wool which has excellent refractoriness so as to be free from deterioration even when subjected to a heat load without reducing productivity and without using special production apparatuses, to provide a rock wool formed body thereof, and to provide a method of advantageously producing the same.
The rock wool consists of fiber obtained by flowing down a melt using blast furnace slag as the main row material to the surface of a rotor rotated at a high speed, and spraying and scattering the same with a gas. In the rock wool, one or more kinds of crystallization promoting materials selected from iron oxide, blast furnace slag fine powder and magnesium oxide are stuck to the surface of the fiber.
