Abstract:

To secure strength and to reduce weight of a rocker arm having a changeover mechanism for changing valve timing using a changeover pin.

This rocker arm 3 has the changeover mechanism for switching the valve timing by connecting or disconnecting first and second adjacent driving rocker arms 31 and 41 to or from an intermediate driving rocker arm 51 via changeover pins 48 and 58. In the first and second driving rocker arms 31 and 41 and the intermediate driving rocker arm 51, guide cylinders 37, 47, and 57 having guide holes 36, 46, and 56 are provided by casting, slip-off preventing grooves 37a, 47a, and 57a are formed in the outer peripheral surfaces of the guide cylinders 37, 47, and 57, and straight parts 37b, 47b, and 57b are formed on the outer peripheral surfaces in predetermined ranges from the ends of the guide cylinders 37, 47, and 57.
