To improve a rocking die forging device and method actually used at present, in which the related control of the rotation speed and rotation direction of two eccentric rings is performed by changeover of the engagement of gear trains and a first type rocking motion needs to be tentatively stopped for that.
Eccentric rings 16 and 18 are driven by NC servo motors 80 and 82 respectively, the respective rotation speeds and rotation directions are optionally set, and a rocking motion of an optional pattern is imparted in an optional time period to an upper die 12 held by a rocking shaft 14. A lower die 26 is elevated and lowered by a hydraulic cylinder 120 operated by a hydraulic pump 122 driven by an NC servo motor 124, the pattern of the rocking motion is changed without stopping the rocking motion of the upper die 12 at a preset position in the middle of an approach motion to the upper die 12 of the lower die 26, and formability and forming accuracy of a workpiece 172 are improved. The rocking motion of the patterns mutually different in the increase process and decrease process of a relative inclination angle of the first die to the second die can be imparted to the first die as well.
