Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll excellent in crack resistance, heat resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, in the roll for continuous casting used to the carrying of a high temp. material.
SOLUTION: The surface layer part of the roll 1 for continuous casting is coated with a build-up welding layer 3 of a material providing the heat resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and U-shaped grooves 4 are carved in the peripheral direction on the coated surface layer part at the same interval pitch, and in the inner part of the roll, 4-8 pieces of cooling holes 5 are arranged as the axial symmetry. Values of a groove depth D, groove pitch (p) and width (h) in the recessed part of the groove in this roll are to satisfy 5≤D≤10 (mm), 10≤p≤20 (mm) and 5≤h≤3p/4 (mm), respectively. By this constitution, the service life is drastically extended by reducing the development of the crack and the wear on the roll surface, and the machining is easily executed and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.
