PURPOSE: To provide the efficient roll forming method for an outer peripheral ring for coil packing with cushion material and equipment therefor which improves efficiency of heavy packing work.

CONSTITUTION: Roll forming equipment 26 of an outer ring for coil packing with cushion material is provided with a guide block 28 to guide a long size cut plate shaped material to downstream side, a longitudinal groove forming roll stand 29 to form the groove extending in the longitudinal direction on the surface of long size cut plate shaped material 27, a traverse groove forming stand 30 to form the groove extending in the plate width direction on the surface of long size cut plate shaped material 27 and a forming roll stand group 31 to sequentially execute bending in the plate width direction to the long size cut plate shaped material 26 and to form L shaped cross section. Further, the equipment is constituted of a side roll stand 42 to form the angle made with two sides of L shaped cross section to an acute angle, a corrugated roll stand 43 to approximately form the whole shape to ring shape by forming corrugated shape to one side of L shaped cross section and a bending roll stand 44 to adjust a radius of curvature of a formed outer peripheral ring 46 with a cushion material.
