PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll outer layer material for hot rolling which has an excellent rough surface resistance in such a manner that an abrasion resistance is assured and a crack depth of a roll surface and pit-like defects are reduced, and a compound roll for hot rolling.SOLUTION: A roll outer layer material for hot rolling which is characterized in that a bearing force of compression of 0.2% at 600°C is 1250 MPa or more and 1480 MPa or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
