Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce torque required for rotation of a roll for a paper machine and to diminish driving power and running cost in a roll for a paper machine.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow porous roll 1 to be used for a paper machine is rotatably supported through a bearing 3 by a bearing housing 4 and a cylindrical stationary center shaft 5 having a porous peripheral face passing in the axial direction through the center of the hollow porous roll 1 is installed. An outer peripheral face positioning in the hollow part of the porous roll 1 in the center shaft 5 is equipped with two or more fins 7 in the axial direction having outer edges at slight gaps from the inner periphery of the porous roll 1 and extending in the axial direction and a disklike fin 6 in the peripheral direction which intersects the shaft center of the center shaft 5 at right angles and has an outer periphery formed at a slight gap from the inner peripheral face of the porous roll 1. The positions of at least the two fins in the peripheral direction among the fins 7 in the axial direction are located near contact points A and B of belt-like materials 16 and 17 wound on the porous roll 1, respectively.
