Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll sufficiently excellent in wear resistance as compared with a chilled cast iron roll and a surface hardened steel type roll, excellent in breaking resistance and workability, and used for the processing of relatively soft materials other than metal, such as milling of grain and forming of corrugated fiberboard.
SOLUTION: This roll is used for the processing of relatively soft materials other than metals, such as milling of grain and forming of corrugated fiberboard. At least outer layer part of the roll is provided with a high speed steel composition and its matrix has a bainitic structure or a mixed structure of bainite and martensite and 5.0-12.0% by area ratio of carbides are dispersed through the structure.
