PURPOSE: To prevent foreign objects from infiltrating into a device or a sheet discharge port by providing a foreign object processing gate opening or closing the sheet discharge port in conjunction with a pick roller cover.
CONSTITUTION: When sheets are to be inserted, a shutter 10 is moved in the direction F to open a window 20. An operation pin 5 inserted into the pin insertion hole 8 of a connecting member 9 is pulled by the connecting member 9 and reaches the point X. Thereby, a pick roller cover 6 is rotated in the direction B and covers the outer periphery of a pick roller 1 protruding from the surface of a guide panel 4. At the same time, a foreign object processing gate 7 operated in conjunction with the pick roller cover 6 is moved in the direction A and closes a sheet discharge port 12. Sheets 15 are inserted through the opened window 20. In this case, foreign objects 17 inserted together with the sheets 15 are made to change the course by the pick roller cover 6 and the foreign object processing gate 7 and drop in the direction C.
