To provide a roller for an electrophotographic system producible by a low-cost extrusion molding and polishing-less method and having satisfactory surface roughness while using a thin low hardness rubber layer.

The roller has a thin rubber layer of ≤1.5 mm thickness disposed on the periphery of a core metal. The thin rubber layer comprises nitrile rubber containing an activated filler and an unactivated filler and has ≤50° hardness and ≤5 μm surface roughness Rz. The contents of the activated filler and the unactivated filler are 25-50 pts.wt. each based on 100 pts.wt. base of the rubber material and the total contents of the fillers is 75-100 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. base of the rubber material.
