PURPOSE: To improve the close adhesion between a metal plating layer and a cylindrical composite material by covering the surface of a fiber reinforced cylindrical composite material with a sheet conductive material, and covering the surface of the sheet conductive material with the metal plating layer.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of a fiber reinforced cylindrical composite material 1 is covered with a sheet conductive material 2, and the surface of the sheet conductive material 2 is covered with a metal plating layer 3 to form a desired roller member. As the metal plating layer 3 is thus formed on the surface of the cylindrical composite material 1, the sliding property and wear resistance of the outer circumferential surface are improved, and further, as the sheet conductive material 2 is interposed between the cylindrical composite material 1 and the metal plating layer 3, the metal plating layer 3 can be formed without hindrance.
