To eliminate various faults accompanying fixation with a clamp by making a material 2 to be hemmed fixable to a lower die 4 by a fixing means in place of the clamp in a hemming device 1.

In the hemming device 1, a plurality of opening parts 15 are provided along the periphery 3 of the material 2 to be hemmed on the placing surface 12 of a lower die 4. A suction tool 16 for sucking downward the material 2 to be hemmed is arranged in the opening parts 15. In this way, the material 2 to be hemmed is fixed to the lower die 4 with the suction tool 16 in place of a conventional clamp. Thus, when a roller is passed through the peripheral portion where the suction tool 16 as a fixing means is present, because it is not required to release the fixation with the suction tool 16, the various faults accompanying the conventional fixation with the clamp are eliminated.
