To provide a wire rolling apparatus which can shorten a waiting time from the passing of the tail end of a wire material in rolling to the supply of the leading end of the next wire material, and can achieve a high operation rate.
When the passing of the tail end of the wire material 12 has been judged by means of a tail end passing judgement means (a drive control means QH8), the drive control means QH8 makes a drive control circuit DH8 stop the supply of a driving current to an electric motor MH8 for driving rolling rolls RH8a, RH8b of a rolling stand SH8 of a first intermediate line 14, and at the same time, the electromagnetic brake is applied to the electric motor MH8 by operating the electromagnetic brake circuit 46 of the drive control circuit DH8. As a result, the rotational speed of the electric motor MH8 is furthermore quickly slowed down compared with natural slowdown. Therefore, in the rolling rolls RH8a, RH8b, the waiting time from the passing of the tail end of the wire material 12 in rolling to the supply of the leading end of the next wire material 12 can be shorten, and the operation rate of the wire rolling apparatus 10 can be increased.
