A rolling bearing includes an inner ring 30A (30B), an outer ring 31A (31B), and a plurality of rolling elements 32A (32B) rollingly held therebetween. A ring-shaped shield plate 33A (33B) which closes the annular space 34A (34B) between the inner ring 30A (30B) and the outer ring 31A (31B) is provided to only one side in the axial direction. On the outer ring 31A (31B), a shield plate mounting part 39A (39B) to which the shield plate 33A (33B) is attached is formed at one end in the axial direction and only on the annular space 34A (34B) side in the radial direction. An area adjusting part 38A (38B) which is different in shape from the shield plate mounting part 39A (39B) and makes the area of the end face 31b at the other end equal to the area of the end face 31a at one end is formed at the other end of the outer ring 31A (31B) in the axial direction.
