To provide a rolling bearing device capable of imparting a consistently stable preload for a long period of time without causing axial rattling.
The rolling bearing device comprises a rolling bearing 6 for rotatably bearing a rotating shaft 1 on a housing 10, and a preload imparting device 9 for thrusting an outer ring 13 in the axial direction to impart preload thereto. The preload imparting device 9 has a holder 14 fixed to the housing 10, a pusher 15 opposed to the holder 14 in the axial direction and having a thrusting face 15b for abutting on an end face 13b of the outer ring 13, and a torsional coil spring 16 mounted between the pusher 15 and the holder 14 in the energized condition. The pusher 15 is cylindrically fitted to the holder 14 via a screw portion and held to be movable forward/backward relative to the holder 14 in the axal direction. Ends 16a, 16b of the torsional coil spring 16 are locked to the holder 14 and the pusher 15, respectively. Thus, rotating force is imparted to the pusher 15 in a predetermined direction.
