To provide a rolling bearing and a monitoring method capable of discovering an abnormality early and accurately.
Since an AE sensor 16 is buried in a fixed wheel 12, when an abnormality is generated in the fixed wheel 12, the AE sensor 16 is arranged close to an abnormality generation part, and an AE signal based on the abnormality can be detected without being attenuated. Similarly, as for an abnormality generated in a rotating wheel 11 or a ball 13, since a probability of occurrence of generation or progression of a crack which is a generation source of the AE signal at the point of time when an abnormality generation portion has the maximum load is high, the AE signal can be received at a timing when the mechanical coupling degree with the fixed wheel 12 is high, and attenuation of the AE signal can be comparatively reduced. The AE signal based on the abnormality can be detected surely with little attenuation by arranging the AE sensor 16 near a load range of the fixed wheel 12. In addition, the dimension of this rolling bearing 10 can be suppressed by burying the AE sensor 16.
