To provide a rolling bearing that can make a slip between components remarkably small without impairing assemblage.
A tapered roller bearing comprises a retaining ring 4 fixed to an outer ring 2, and a single row of retaining balls 6 arranged between the retaining ring 4 and tapered rollers 3, in the equal number to the number of the tapered rollers 3. The respective tapered rollers 3 are uniformly arranged in a circumferential direction by the respective retaining balls 6, and one retaining ball 6 comes in contact with the retaining ring 4 at two points and with each adjacent tapered roller 3 at one point. A geometrical constitution is adopted to make the speed vectors of the tapered rollers 3 and retaining balls 6 equal so that the motion of the tapered rollers 3 and retaining balls 6 at all these contact points becomes rolling motion.
