To provide a rolling body power roller for a toroidal type continuously variable transmission in which high surface carbon density with less dispersion is provided while rolling fatigue strength of a bearing face groove part receiving a load under high temperature and high pressure is improved further.
In a rolling body power roller 1 for a toroidal type continuously variable transmission constructed by bringing the rolling body power roller 1 into contact with a rolling body disc via lubrication oil, the surface carbon density of a bearing face groove part B of a power roller outer ring, which is finished after a carbonizing/carbonitriding process, is equal to that of a bearing groove back face part C or more, while the effective hardened layer depth of the bearing face groove part B is equal to that of the bearing groove back face part C or more. In addition, the surface carbon density and the effective hardened layer depth of the bearing face groove part B are equal to those of a bearing face groove part inside diameter side flat part A or more.
