PURPOSE: To reduce dimensions in the width direction and to make a device compact by connecting a 1st geared motor to the end part of a 1st roll and connecting a 2nd geared motor to the other side of a 2nd roll.

CONSTITUTION: The geared motors 46, 66 are rotationally driven at a prescribed rotational speed. When the rotary shaft 55 of the 1st geared motor 46 is revolved, torque is transmitted to an output shaft 56 through a reducing gear part 48 and the 1st roll 13 is directly driven. When the rotary shaft 75 of the 2nd geared motor 66 is revolved, torque is transmitted to the output shaft 76 through the reducing gear part 68 and the 2nd roll 14 is directly driven. To change the opening degree of roll, the heights of chocks 20 are changed with a roll screw-down mechanism 30. The 1st geared motor 46 and 2nd geared motor 66 are respectively installed on the opposite end parts of the rolls 13, 14. In this way, even a material to be rolled which requires the large opening degree of roll is rolled without any probl em.
