Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling die where both abrasion resistance and chipping resistance are high and a tool life is stably improved.SOLUTION: A nitrided layer 16 is formed on the surface layer part of the thread 13 of a rolling round die 10 by a nitriding treatment. The Vickers hardness of the nitrided layer 16 is 1,100-1,250 (HV) in 0≤H<10 (μm) and 1,000-1,200 (HV) in 10≤H≤20 (μm) where H is a depth from the surface of the nitrided layer 16. Both chipping resistance and abrasion resistance of the rolling round die 10 can be enhanced by that the hardness of the nitrided layer 16 is within the range. Therefore, the tool life of the rolling round die 10 can be improved. Further, the rapid wear of the nitrided layer 16 does not occur since the inclination of the hardness reduction of the nitrided layer 16 becomes gentle in 0≤H≤20 (μm) and then the tool life of the rolling round die 10 is stabilized.
