Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide extremely excellent surface roughness without damaging a surface of a rolling element by providing the abrasive grain of low hardness, and improve the working efficiency, and to reduce the required working time by generating the solid phase reaction between the soft abrasive grain and a hard work.
SOLUTION: A side surface of an intermediate work 14 of a rolling element for ceramic bearing is held by a pair of plates 27, 27, the plates 27, 27 are oscillated, the liquid containing the abrasive grain 39 of lower hardness than that of the intermediate work 14 is fed around the intermediate work 14 while the intermediate work 14 is rotated, and the side surface of the intermediate work 14 is polished with the abrasive grain interposed between the oscillating plate 27 and the side surface of the rotating intermediate work 14.
