To provide a rolling equipment capable of improving a sheet thickness accuracy and a tension accuracy and a controlling method therefor.
The control device of the rolling equipment outputs the speeds of an entrance side bridle roll and the like to respective speed operation ends based on the rolling result obtained from the entrance side bridle roll, an exit side bridle roll, a plurality of rolling machine stands, speed control devices therefor, the sheet thickness detector and tension detector of a material to be rolled, the detected sheet thickness of the material to be rolled and the detected tension of the material to be rolled. Further, a reference speed operation end setting device sets the reference speed operation end which does not give a correction value in speed control so as to minimize a speed correction value on each speed operation end based on the rolling state including the sheet thickness, tension, sheet thickness control and tension control. A speed correction command preparing device determines the speed correction value of the entrance side bridle roll and the like according to the set reference speed operation end, and outputs it to each speed operation end.
