PURPOSE: To provide a rolling installation which permits the easy exchange of rolling rolls and has a high effect of controlling the shape by providing a roll crown control device for applying pushing load to a standby rolling roll disposed in parallel with the rolling roll alongside the same from the side face of said roll in order to apply a bending and deflecting effect thereto.

CONSTITUTION: An upper backup roll 1 and the axle box thereof as well as an intermediate roll 17 and journal box 5 are pulled upward in the case of using the upper rolling roll 3 as the intermediate roll 17. A revolving axle box 6 is rotated around the shaft of the roll 17 to move the standby rolling roll 7 from the standby position to an operating position. A piston rod 15 of a piston 14 is then projected to bring an intermediate lateral roll 10 to contact with the roll 7 in the operating position from the transverse direction by a push roll 16 supported at both ends. Rolling by using the roll 7 having the diameter smaller than the diameter of the roll 17 as a work roll 18 is made possible if the rolling is executed in the above-mentioned state and therefore and installation is suitable for rolling of a rolling plate 19 consisting of a relatively hard material.
