Abstract:
PURPOSE: To restrict the generation of crack and to obtain a defectless wire rod by performing the rolling treatment of a horizontally and continuously cast material of two-phase stainless steel, having a circular cross section and containing a ferrite of prescribed proportion, under the prescribed conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A two-phase stainless steel material of circular cross section, containing 5W15% ferrite, is cast by horizontal and continuous casting. The material is rolled at 1,000W1,300°C till the total reduction rate of area exceeds at least 40%, by using only a box and/or oval and a round calibers. In this way, the generation of crack is restricted, and a defectless wire rod is obtained.
