Abstract:
To freely control a roll crown and to roll a steel strip having good shape.
Annular block bodies 11a-11e which consist of a material (for example, copper) the coefficient of thermal expansion of which is higher than that of the material (roll steel) of the main body 10 of the roll is divided into five in the axial direction of the roll, embeded in the interior of the main body 10 of roll of the back-up roll 7 in a 4-stage rolling mill and also, by selectively introducing steam or cooling water in the annular passages 13a-13e which are formed on these block bodies 11a-11e through steam or cooling-water passages 15a-15c, 16a-16c into every specified block bodies, the main body 10 of the roll is partially heated or cooled.
