In the rolling mill for wire rods/steel bars the plural sets of four-roll stands of which are arranged in series, by loading those plural sets of four-roll stands on a common truck 7 and loading a driving system mechanism 12 which is connected to a driving input shaft 6a to at least one set of four-roll stands (X-type stand 6) of them through bevel gears 11 on the same truck, the input shaft 11b to the driving system mechanism 12 is horizontally extended in the direction perpendicular to the mill line. By the driving system mechanism 12, the input direction to the driving input shaft 6a of the X-type stand 6 is converted and the horizontal output shaft 3p2 of a mill drive 3 is horizontally connected to the input shaft 11b.
