PURPOSE: To improve rolling load detection accuracy by installing load cells detecting a rolling load in plural lines and moving a roll bearing box on a housing guide face through rolling bearings.
CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic cylinder 17 having a piston 18 is installed in a mill housing 1 and a load cell 19 for large loads and a load cell 20 for small loads are installed in plural lines between the cylinder 17, piston 18 and a reinforcing roll bearing box. Further, a rolling gearing 22 is assembled in a housing guide face of a bearing box 3 and rolling bearings 23, 24 are installed in an intermediate bearing box 5 and a work roll bearing box 7, respectively. A hydraulic component of a rolling load is detected by the cell 19 and a residual load is detected by the cell 20. The detecting accuracy for rolling loads is improved because frictional resistances of bearing boxes 3, 5, 7 are reduced and the detection accuracy of the cell 20 for small loads is improved.
