Abstract:
To improve the durability of a member coming in rolling or sliding contact with a mating member such as a roller 8 constituting a cam follower device, at a low cost.
The surface of the roller 8 is finished by barrel processing. When the highest position of minute recesses and projections on the surface is considered to be the outermost surface position, the ratio of the cross section of a virtual plane in the surface direction at a position moved by 2.0 μm from the outermost surface in the depth direction to the entire surface area of the portion thereof in contact with the mating member is 90% or more. With this constitution, a strong oil film is formed between the surface of the roller 8 and a mating surface to solve the problem.
