To surely and correctly detect a rolling stock position by specifying the rolling stock position on the basis of the position of a magnetic sensor when an output value which changes in the time not less than a predetermined value of the signal from the magnetic sensor is not less than the predetermined value.
This rolling stock position detector detects the variation of geomagnetic when the rolling stock of an electric railway 40 passes by a geomagnetic sensor 12, and inputs the output signal into a CPU 24 through a HPF14 which passes through only the signal which changes in the time not less than the predetermined value. The CPU 24 determines that the rolling stock 42 passes the position of the magnetic sensor 12 when the signal value is not less than the predetermined value, and the position of the magnetic sensor 12 is taken as the rolling stock position. The CPU 24 stores a data which indicates the variation of the geomagnetic signal in a RAM 28 while the data showing that a track electric current is detected by a track electric current detecting circuit 32 is not input, that is, while the rolling stock does not exist in a predetermined section, calculates difference with the data which indicates the variation of the geomagnetic signal stored in the RAM 28, and corrects by reducing the difference from the data which indicates the variation of the geomagnetic signal input next time, thus the rolling stock position is correctly specified.
