Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a new rolling tapping method and a rolled tap in which a machining starting part of a tap tip where heat generation is the most intense can properly be cooled during machining, even while a simple general-purpose tapping machine is used as a premise, when a female screw is rolled and formed in a prepared hole (preliminary hole) of a nut blank.SOLUTION: A method of the present invention is characterized in that a nut blank W sequentially supplied is held in a correct posture and a rolled tap 10 is rotated and press-fitted to a prepared hole H opened in the nut blank W, and thereby a female screw is plastically formed in the inner wall surface of the prepared hole H. In the nut blank W, a liquid coolant C is supplied from the opposite side of the direction for press-fitting the rolled tap 10 into the prepared hole H during machining. Also, the liquid coolant C passes through a supply hole 14 in the rolled tap 10 from a liquid supply space 13 of a tap tip side, and is brought into a water flow directing groove 15 of a tap outer circumferential part, and thereby is streamed down this place and is made to arrive at rolled peaks 12 of the machining starting part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
