To provide a roofing material which can obtain a high level of photocatalytic degradation activity even when an enamel-coated surface and a clear-coated surface are coated with a thick film with a thickness of more than 2 μm so as to suppress a deterioration in the enamel-coated surface and the clear-coated surface; and to provide a coating liquid for a roof.
This roofing material, which has a photocatalytic layer provided on a surface of a base material, is characterized as follows: the photocatalytic layer is obtained by drying a photocatalytic coating liquid after applying it; the photocatalytic coating liquid includes photocatalytic metal oxide particles, a curable silicone emulsion, a surface active agent and water; coating or modification treatment is partially applied to the photocatalytic metal oxide particles by a substance with a hydrophobic group; and the surface active agent is a nonionic surface active agent.
