To provide a rotary pressing/joining apparatus for finger joints which allows improvement of the productivity of a joined material of wood by reducing the waiting time of a row of wood elements for feeding, during carrying a row of wood elements laterally from the receiving line to the pressing/joining line.
A lateral carrying mechanism 18 which carries a row A of wood elements, connected by temporary press fitting of finger joints, laterally from the receiving line to the pressing/joining line employs an endless chain 45 arranged so that the upper linear running portion 45a of the chain 45 intersects the receiving and pressing/joining lines at right angles. When the endless chain 45 is imparted with intermittent feeds at certain strokes by means of a driving mechanism, the row A of wood elements are carried laterally onto the pressing/joining line with pushers 46 attached to the chain 45 at constant intervals. When finger joints are pressed/joined on the pressing/joining line, a next row A of wood elements is fed onto the receiving line.
