Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a highly efficient bioreactor by installing agitating blades between inner barrels in a horizontal mixing vessel.
CONSTITUTION: Plural inner barrels 2 are horizontally arranged inside an outer barrel 1, and agitating blades 4 are installed between the inner barrels 2 and revolved together with the inner barrels using a prime mover 9. The inner barrels are packed with an immobilized biocatalyst 3, which is then fed with a culture medium from a medium storage tank 8 along with air 11 through a sparger 10. The air 11 is then exhausted through a mist separator 7 and a filter 6.
