To provide a novel rotary type combustor usable as an engine for particularly driving an electric generator.
The combustor comprises a fixed structure and an annularly circular cylindrical rotor supported by the fixed structure. The rotor is turnably supported in relation to a shaft by a non-contact type supporting means. A combustion chamber is formed in the rotor with a lateral outflow opening portion for releasing combustion gas. The rotor has a circular narrow groove portion through which a controlled fixed fuel and combustion agent filling means and a corresponding igniting means extend to the chamber. A control means is designed to operate the filling means and the igniting means following preset procedures. Thus, detonation waves propagating over the chamber are generated and the combustion gas is released via the lateral outflow opening portion to produce motive force, giving rotation to the rotor at a controlled speed.
