This rotary compressor 10 has a cylinder 13 having a closed curved surface-like inner peripheral surface 13a around the axis, a rotor 15 arranged in the cylinder and having an outer peripheral surface 15b corresponding to the inner peripheral surface and a vane 20 constituted so as to be protrusible-retreatable inside the cylinder and defining a compression space 23B together with the cylinder and the rotor by abutting on the rotor, and is characterized in that an elastic layer 17 is arranged between the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder and the outer peripheral surface of the rotor, and the rotor rollingly rotates while bringing the outer peripheral surface into pressure contact with the inner peripheral surface via the elastic layer.
