To increase sealability of an O-ring at low cost and thereby to improve performance of a rotary compressor.
The rotary compressor comprises: upper and lower cylinders 38, 40 constituting first and second rotary compression elements 32, 34; a lower support member 56 blocking an opening part of the lower cylinder 40 and having a bearing 56A as a bearing part of a rotational shaft 16; a discharge muffling chamber 64 formed by depressing a face opposite to the lower cylinder 40 in the outside of the bearing 56A of the lower support member 56 and blocking the depressed part with a lower cover 68 with a cover; an O-ring groove 70 formed in a face abutted with the lower cover 68 of the bearing 56A; the O-ring 71 housed in the O-ring groove 70; and a gasket 75 interposed between the lower support member 56 and the lower cover 68 in an outer peripheral part of the lower support member 56. A step 77 is formed to a face on a lower support member 56 side of the lower cover 68 to absorb thickness of the gasket 75.
