A rotary current collector 11 includes a first component 36a containing a first terminal 46, and a second component 47c which contains a second terminal 47 connected electrically to the first terminal 46 and is rotatable relative to the first component 36a. A plurality of intermediate components 38 are arranged in series in a coaxial manner between the first component 36a and the second component 37c. The first component 36a and the intermediate component 38 adjoining it are connected together for mutual relative rotation, and the intermediate component 38 and the second component 37c adjoining it as well as the intermediate components 38 adjoining each other are connected together respectively for relative rotation. A plurality of driving means 39-41 rotate the first component 36a and the intermediate component 38 respectively. A control unit 31 controls the driving means 39-41 so that the rotational speed of the first component 36a and the intermediate component 38 sequentially decreases as advances from the first component 36a side toward the second component 37c side.
