To provide a rotary driving unit permitting the formation of a proper record image, in an image forming apparatus, by enhancing the precision regarding the rotational central position and the rotational velocity of a photoreceptor drum, and to provide the rotary driving unit capable of achieving such an objective inexpensively.
The rotary driving unit is composed of: a unit housing fixed to an apparatus frame of the image forming apparatus; a driving motor fixed to the unit housing; a planetary reduction mechanism housed in the unit housing, having an output shaft disposed on the same axial center as the driving motor, and transmitting the rotation of the driving motor to the photoreceptor drum; a support housing provided so as to protrude from the unit housing and positioned with respect to the apparatus frame; and a drum shaft continuously formed with the output shaft of the planetary reduction mechanism, inserted into the photoreceptor drum through the support housing, and driving the photoreceptor drum.
