To provide a rotary electric component capable of preventing a housing from falling when a thrust load is applied to an operation axis.
The rotary electric component includes a case 1 having a box-like storing part 1c whose undersurface side is opened, a rotary member 3 having the operation axis 3a and rotatably held by the storing part 1c, a conductor plate 4 having a first conductive part and rotated with rotation of the rotary member 3, and the housing 5 having a second conductive part engaged with the opening of the storing part 1c and slidably contacting the conductor plate 4 to output an electrical signal. An outer wall 1d is formed outside the storing part 1c of the case 1 surrounding the periphery of the storing part 1c, a protection plate 7 covering a bottom plate part of housing 5 and having a pair of side plates 7b extended to the sidewall surface of the storing part 1c is provided in the case 1, and the protection plate 7 is locked to the storing part 1c inside of the outer wall 1d. Thus, the housing 5 is held in the opening of the storing part 1c.
